The language barrier is one of the most serious challenges when moving to a new country. Edmonton's Immigration Services Association provides help in overcoming this barrier.
EISA Provides
- Translation of documents such as Diploma / Marriage / Birth / Divorce certificates or other professional documents.
- Interpretation to help you understand appointments with the government or other organizations.
Must Do
- For Translation:
- Bring Up to 5 original documents
- Bring your Permanent Residence Card or Immigration Document
- A completed "Language Bank Translation Request Form" (you can get this at the EISA)
- For Interpretation
- Give EISA at least 1 week notice so they can find a volunteer to help you
- Bring your Permanent Residence Card or Immigration document
- A completed "Language Bank Translation Request Form" (you can get this at the EISA)
- Please make sure you know the time and place where you will need an interpreter
Each Fee
- For Translation: FREE
- if you have been in Canada for Less than 1 year
- For Interpretation: FREE
- for immigrants living in Canada for Less than 3 years
